he interview process is different for everyone. I know because I have read other blogs explaining what they had to do and seen videos on YouTube. Comparing those stories to mine, it is NOTHING alike. Each individual region/organization does it differently. Most of the time I hear that these people have to drive a couple hours from their home and then be at their interview location for several hours. The reason for this is that they would go and get "graded" for how they interact and mingle with the other applicants. Then, during that time, you would get called in to get interviewed. My interview, however, was entirely different.
My time was 12:00 at the Hilton Airport Hotel in Phoenix (only about 30 minutes from where I live). So I woke up around 8:00 am to shower, make some breakfast, do my make-up, straiten my hair, and change. (I wore some black slacks, a white and gold blouse tucked in, and a black belt along with gold wedges.) Once I was all ready to go, we left and arrived about 25 minutes early but they had some neat little things like pamphlets and brochures to look at. The only thing is, I was the ONLY one there.
Eventually two of the interview board members came out and introduced themselves to me and my parents. They seamed really nice and understanding at how nervous I was. After their little introduction the brought me inside while my parents waited outside. There were four people interviewing me and the all gave me their name and position with the organization and how they got there. They then had me introduce myself and they asked me a multitude of questions mostly based on personality and hobbies and why I was to go to Germany, why I chose CBYX, and how would I be able to make friends and cope with feeling like no one understands me. I had them laughing and they were all smiles the entire time.
After about thirty or so minutes, they had me step outside to work on a "project" while my parents got interviewed. They had me make a one minute video talking about why I did the program and why CBYX is amazing, etc, ect....About fifteen minutes later my parents came out and the board was all giggles and smiles. They then told us when to expect an answer on my position and said goodbye. Later my dad explained that he had the board of interviewers cracking up and that they seamed to really like me but I was kinda shy.
Well, we can only hope for the best. Wish me luck! I find out within the next three weeks!
