So I have currently applied for the CBYX scholarship through FLAG. The good news: These people are just absolutely terrific! They are always there if you have any questions and want to talk to someone. They are also so sweet and kind! I remember when I went into the interview, I felt immediately comfortable around them. They were just so easy to talk to and had open ears. They would even joke around with you and would talk to you like they've known you forever. I remember telling them that I had just gone to the ostrich festival the day before with a bunch of friends and they were all like "What is that?" I described a carnival/fair setting where you can play games, ride rides, listen to bands even watch ostriches race. Connie, one of the board members, was all like, "Oh my gosh! You can ride ostriches?!" Then Tim, one of the other board members (and CBYX director) says, "we should go there tonight!"....in other words, it was just a very calming and friendly atmosphere.
The bad news: they are new to the CBYX program, taking over AYUSA's region. The reason why this is bad is because I had no resources. I couldn't talk to anybody to see what they are looking for with the application and interview process. It was just a little nerve racking not knowing what to expect. However, I will have to admit I liked the way they did the selection process because I am now guaranteed an alternate or scholarship winner position. But then, once again, a downfall to this is you have to wait much longer to here from them on what position you have received.
Anyways, really nervous for finding out what I am. Only about one to two more weeks of waiting. Fingers crossed I get the scholarship!
