The last couple days

We woke up pretty early in the morning to leave at a decent time for our trek to the water tower place (which was the second time being there for me). It was a 1.5 mile walk, but it was worth it 'cause it was so beautiful out and the seeing the skyline was breathtaking. We were at the mall for a few hours and here are some pics of the trip:

We then had our performance at the Chicago symphony center. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me, so I don't have any pictures of it. But we then went to the Hard Rock Cafe, and I don have pictures of that.

After, we had to go back to the symphony center to get our award. And then we finally got to the hotel and packed for leaving.

Safe to say, I'm back in Arizona and happy to be in warm weather again. Haha, I don't know how I will survive cold Germany.

Cold, Cold day

Today has, so far, been the best day of my trip so far! We all got up and made our way to the buses at 9:00 am to head on over to the Field museum. I took some pictures while we were on the bus because we passed some famous and awesome looking Chicago landmarks.

a really cool looking hotel in downtown Chicago
 Chicago Bears stadium
Shedd aquarium

field museum

Then we went into the field museum. We watched the jazz band perform and then checked out a couple of exhibits.

My aunt then picked me up and took me to lunch where I had this really amazing pancake that was stuffed with pretzels and topped with a white chocolate and caramel syrup.

After that amazing breakfast lunch thing, we took a train to the water tower place (upper end mall). We also stopped into the Hershey's store which was absolutely fabulous- I got two giant Hershey's bars for my dad and sister,  Twizzlers that are bigger than a foot long, and a jar of Reese's peanut butter.

We got back on the bus and made our way to Millennium Park to see the world renown "bean".

And that's pretty much all that has happened today. No dinner for me because I wasn't hungry after the lunch I had. So that's pretty much it.

Where's the snow?

Today was the first "official" Chicago day (and it was supposed to snow)! I started the day waking up incredibly early (much earlier than intended  7:00 am). I did some getting ready by showering and getting all dolled up and changing- the usual. Then we all just sat in our hotel room till what seemed like forever and finally left to go to Navy Pier at 11:50. Here are some pics from the awesome pier:

After the freezing cold pier, we headed to the Chicago Symphony center to see the world famous band perform. Let me just say it was one of the most boring things I have ever seen (I fell asleep for half of it), but the concert hall was simply beautiful. Here are a couple pictures from the very top floor of the concert hall where are tickets were:

After the symphony, we went back out into the freezing cold to travel to the skydeck at the sears/willis tower (103 stories and the tallest building in the U.S.). It was kind of scary at first, but I eventually got to the edges and I even walk out onto the glass overlook hanging off the building.

And, finally, at the end of the day, we made the one block walk to a Chicago restaurant for some classic deep dish Chicago pizza. (Sorry, I forgot to get a picture of the food!)

As much as I love Chicago, I can't wait to leave. (These band kids are driving me crazy!) By the way, there was no snow today, but apparently it IS supposed to snow tomorrow, so I hope mother nature keeps her word and lets it snow 'cause I've never seen snow before.

Dinner at Ed Debevic's

last night we went to this amazing diner in downtown Chicago. It has so many amazing things hanging on the walls and the waiters put on a hysterical act of hating you and trying ever so hard to make fun of you. (i.e. I ordered a chicken sandwich plain and the waitress snapped back "plain, like your personality?") It's mean but hilarious! Here are some pictures of the stuff in the diner:

"you are now leaving Ed Debevic's and in your way back to grim reality."

They also had all the waiters and waitresses get up on the tables and start dancing. It was unique to say the least. (I had a video, but it won't let me upload it. :/ ) After dinner we took the 20 minute walk back to our hotel and let me just say, you don't ever want to take rural Arizona kids to a loud, cold, and dangerous city at night unless you want some kind of chaos.
